SAR Values

SAR, Specific energy Absorption Rate is the terminology and math’s/science that is supposed to protect the general public.  We have difficulty with “Means” and “Averages” being applied to a “Specific” in order to calculate the safety levels which should then be called AAR, Average Absorption Rate, as you know you can get a lot of low values and a few high ones and the final average outcome is low.

You have other problems with the SAR being that different locations absorb more readily, whereas other areas like check bones may reflect more energy. Then you have the site of calculation being the cheek bone area as opposed to calculating at the cell phone aerial site behind the ear where the brain cancers are being found.  You have the metal factor from mercury amalgam fillings, earrings or metal framed glasses which may intensify the energy or act by induction to transfer the energy to other areas like the eyes, which may explain the increase in eye cancers, these factors are ignored in the calculations.

We have a problem with the method of testing the theories.  In 1940’s due to fears from USA military personnel using radar, spurious investigations revealed nil effects.  In 1953 a medical consultant to the Hughes Aircraft Corporation reported to the military, research listing purport hemorrhagic (internal bleeding), leukaemia, cataracts, headaches, brain tumours, heart conditions and jaundice as possible effects from exposure to radar microwaves, resulting in further investigation and a safety limit of 0.1 W/cm² being set which was quickly revised down to 10 mW/cm² .

At some point research was conducted by using a dummy in the shape of a man made from sacks filled with sand and probes inserted to measure the exposure levels to estimate a safe limit.  Biophysical modeling, ineffectual personnel studies and heat dissipation in rats set the safety standard C95.1 in 1966.  (read “The Origins of U.S. Safety Standards for Microwave Radiation” by N.H. Steneck …et al, in Science, Vol. 208, 13/6/80, pg 1230- 1237.)  Further research was requested and never satisfactorily completed, but spasmodic research over the years has revised the limit downwards, as the technology proliferated to the point we are at today, using microwaves to talk to each other, are our current safety standards adequate enough to protect us?

Some laboratories in England are now using wax dummy heads and probes, to measure radiation penetration.

Dr Gandhi et al used MRI, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, biophisysical modeling and numerical calculations, and concluded that radiation penetrates the brain of a child further than that of an adult.  More

Headaches from Cellular Telephones: Are They Real and What Are the Implications?   Allan H. Frey  Has shown that radiation can penetrate the blood brain barrier that protects the brain from harm, thus reducing the protection so that more poisons/viruses/free radicals etc could go to the brain and Collot, Bems and Popp discuss a pharmacological quality of the radiation.

Dr’s Lai and Sing and Dr M Chalier …et al, DR J Phillips et al have shown that radiation can break DNA which can cause cancer.

The UK's National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB) confirms significant absorption of microwave energy in the eyes and their sockets, brain, nose, tongue and surrounding muscles. A senior adviser to the NRPB has been reported in the British press as saying: "It is not unreasonable to suggest that this might cause some damage." The worry is that these overt symptoms may be the precursors to more serious problems and not all users are getting these early warning signals.

Is the problem more serious ? Research funded by the New York Heart Research Foundation as early as 1992, showed that microwave radiation from a relatively low powered analogue mobile phone, caused chemical changes in the brain similar to those present in cancerous and precancerous situations, which were still measurable more than 7 days after just one 3 minute phone call.

The brain uses electrical and chemical signals to function properly, are you prepared to hold a mini-microwave to them?

Dr S.S. Gorgun and others including Dr Adey discuss the changes of some cell functions including cell replication, and the leaching of calcium ions which regulate the discussions/neuro-transmissions from cell to cell.

Dr Hardell studied Cellular and Cordless Telephones and the Risk for Brain Tumors.

Then there is the problem of independent “Experts” testing the cellphones for rating SAR values.  Usually industry do their own tests; the methods and equipment used vary.

Finally you have to question the validity of the process when the standards are set mainly by industry and engineers or scientists lacking knowledge on the health effects.
